![]() ![]() A first-time user who takes a quick look at snagit might not find out about the feature. I was motivated to find a feature that I knew existed and make it work. Not just to insure a seamless upgrade experience for a long-term user like me. But I can't help thinking one or two things could have been more intuitive. Change what's defined there as the "global capture" hotkey and PrintScreen is yours again to assign to a profile of your choice. ![]() Hadn't I seen some other place where hotkeys are assigned? Indeed, there's a hotkeys tab under preferences. Of course it's used not by another program, as snagit is trying to tell me, but by snagit itself. ![]() Or should I assign a hotkey to my custom profile? I want the PrintScreen key but snagit tells me it's already used by another program. Maybe I need to create a custom profile and flag it as default? No sorry, there is no notion of a default profile. It took me a while to realise that the image capture profile that I have just edited is not the same as the out-of-the-box profile that is still used when I press PrintScreen. Surely, when I press PrintScreen now (I only ever use PrintScreen to initiate a capture - not a fan of OneClick or red button), my capture is going to include the cursor? Consternation & frustration when it doesn't. I still can't see what I'm looking for, but OK, look around a bit and when you click "image" under "capture profiles", there at last is the familiar "include cursor" option. Profiles perhaps? Tried profiles->capture profiles->image. So the first place I looked was preferences. In snagit 12, when you click the notification icon there is no more "open snagit". In Snagit 11, you clicked the snagit icon in the notification area, selected "Open Snagit", changed the appropriate setting in the snagit window and you were done. Having learnt how to make it work, I still find it less convenient and less intuitive than it was in V11. "Include cursor" is one feature that "just worked" in V11 and that takes a bit of time and trial & error to make work in V12. I've been using snagit for 15 years and the upgrade to V12 is the first one that left me confused. My guess is Helena is not the only user who's had trouble with this. ![]()
